Welcome to the Faculty of Graduate Studies (FGS) of University of Jaffna. The faculty is committed to offer postgraduate programs with high standard in all the disciplines to satisfy the educational thirst of the society.

Excelling in Postgraduate Teaching, Research and Dissemination is the driving theme of the faculty. The faculty is recommencing its activities at Vavuniya Center and it is taking initiatives to establish a Center at Kilinochchi as well. The Faculty will offer more need-based courses and assists postgraduate research and dissemination under the dynamic leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof.S.Srisatkunarajsh

We are taking initiatives to offer postgraduate certificate, diploma and higher diploma courses in near future. Also initiatives are already being taken to offer science based postgraduate courses to meet the demand of the teachers and administrators. The Ordinance of the Faculty of Graduate Studies is revisited and amendments are proposed to the UGC to approve through the Standing Committee on Postgraduate studies and Research. The curricula of all the programs are under revision based on the Sri Lankan Qualifications Frame Work (revised version 2015) as per the Commission circular 3/2015 and is in the process of implementation.

The faculty has established an Internal Quality Assurance Cell to discuss and monitor the programs offered by the Faculty and to propose the required changes/amendments to deliver the best to ensure the quality education.

The Faculty has established Alumni of FGS to be a strong pillar for the development of the faculty. The faculty provides facilities to conduct conferences, Seminar and other presentations. A branch library is being established to facilitate the postgraduate students for their reference. The faculty uses skype facilities to conduct the evaluation of proposals and progress presentations by inviting experts from other Universities and abroad. The Video conferencing facility will be established to connect the world with FGS-UoJ. Initiatives are being taken to develop collaborative research and teaching activities with local and foreign Institutes and Universities. Further best performers of the taught postgraduate programs are awarded to recognize the best students their by encourage others to perform well in their study programs. With the blessings of the Almighty and elderly people, the faculty will do its best to meet the aspirations of the community as well as to reach its vision.
