Meikandaar Vizha (‘மெய்கண்டார் விழா’) – 2022

The Department of Saiva Siddhanta and the students of the Master of Saiva Siddhanta – Batch VII of the Faculty of Graduate Studies jointly conducted the ‘Meikandaar Vizha’ for celebrating the ‘Meikadaar Guru Poosai – Iaippasi Swathy’ on 26.10.2022, Wednesday, 2.30 pm at the Kailasapathy Auditorium. The programme was started spiritually with the ‘Guru Marapu Vaazhthu’ and the ‘Panchapuraanam’. The Welcome Address was given by Dr. I.Jeyandran, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Saiva Siddhanta.

The words of blessings were delivered by Srilasri Somasundhara Thesika GnanasambandhaParamaacharya Swamikal, 2nd Gurumaha Sannithaanam of Nallai Adheenam, Emeritus Professor P. Gopalakrishna Iyar, Former Dean, Faculty of Arts, University of Jaffna and the Saiva Siddhantha Pandit Sivasri. T. K. Jegatheeswarakkurukkal, President of The Srilanka International Hindu Priests Association.

The Head of, the Department of Saiva Siddhanta and the Coordinator for the Master of Saiva Siddhanta – Batch VII, Dr.Ponnuthurai Chandrasegaram delivered his President’s Address.

The Speech of the Honorable Guest was delivered by Dr. Suganthini Srimuralitharan, the Dean of, the Faculty of Hindu Studies.

One of the Honorable Guests Professor S. Kannadhasan, The Dean of, the Faculty of Graduate Studies has also honoured this occasion as the Chief Guest on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jaffna and delivered his valuable speech.

After that, a Video clip about the Saiva Siddhanta Tradition, a Debate with the topic related to the Saiva religion, a ‘Villisai’ about the ‘Santhaana Marapu” by the students of the Master of Saiva Siddhanta – Batch VII of the Faculty of Graduate Studies.

Finally, a Drama ‘Meiikandaar’ was played by the students of the Department of Saiva Siddhanta, which was directed by Dr. K.Rathitharan, the Head of, the Department of Fine Arts.

The ‘Meikandaar Vizha’ came to an end with the Vote of Thanks, which was given by T. Selvamanokaran, Senior Lecturer, Department of Saiva Siddhanta.
