Postgraduate Degree Programmes
The Faculty of Graduate Studies, University of Jaffna calls applications from eligible candidates for the following postgraduate degree programmes:
- Master of Clean Energy Technologies – 1 Year (SLQF Level 9)
- Master of Science in Clean Energy Technologies – 2 Years (SLQF Level 10)
The Master of Clean Energy Technologies consists of taught courses only, while the MSc programme includes a one-year research project in addition to taught courses.
Preamble
These programmes aim to produce technically sound postgraduates to meet the growing demand in Clean Energy Technologies such as solar photovoltaic, solar thermal, hydro, wind, and bioenergy.
The programmes develop highly skilled research and development professionals capable of providing technical advice and solutions in clean energy systems by applying principles from Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, and related disciplines.
Graduates will be equipped to address real-world energy challenges and contribute to industry, academia, and environmental sustainability initiatives.
Admission Requirements (Applicable to Both Programmes)
- BSc Honours Degree in Chemistry or Physics
- BSc Degree in Engineering
- BSc General Degree with Physics or Chemistry and at least one year of relevant research or professional experience
- Any other equivalent qualification acceptable to the Board of Study in Physical Sciences

Fee Payment
Tuition fees may be paid in full or in installments:
- Two installments: 50% at registration and 50% at the beginning of the second semester
- Three installments: 40% at registration, 30% after 4 months, and 30% after 8 months
Application Procedure
Closing Date: 15 March 2023
Application Fee: Rs. 1,500.00
Application forms can be obtained from the Assistant Registrar, Faculty of Graduate Studies, University of Jaffna or downloaded from www.grad.jfn.ac.lk.
Duly completed applications should be sent by registered post or submitted by hand to the Assistant Registrar, Faculty of Graduate Studies, University of Jaffna, Thirunelvely on or before the closing date.
The programme applied for should be clearly indicated on the top left corner of the envelope.
