It also aims to contribute to the ongoing critical self-reflection of\n      the humanities and social sciences on culture through regional and international initiatives.\n    <\/p>\n    <p>\n      This revised course structure is designed in line with the requirements of\n      <strong>SLQF Level 9 compliance<\/strong>.\n    <\/p>\n  <\/div>\n\n  <!-- Preamble -->\n  <div class=\"card\">\n    <h3>Preamble<\/h3>\n    <p>\n      Cultural Studies is an innovative interdisciplinary field of research and teaching\n      that investigates the ways in which \u201cculture\u201d creates and transforms individual\n      experiences, everyday life, social relations, and power.\n    <\/p>\n    <p>\n      The field explores relationships between culture as human expressive and symbolic\n      activities, and cultures as distinctive ways of life. It combines the strengths of\n      the social sciences and humanities, drawing on literary studies, sociology, media\n      studies, history, anthropology, art history, political science, and economics.\n    <\/p>\n    <p>\n      The MCST programme offered by the Faculty of Graduate Studies, University of Jaffna,\n      extends space for discourse on culture and research opportunities with respect to\n      Sri Lanka\u2019s cultural diversity within global contexts.\n    <\/p>\n  <\/div>\n\n  <!-- Programme Background -->\n  <div class=\"card\">\n    <h3>Programme Background<\/h3>\n    <p>\n      The Master of Arts (MA) in Cultural Studies, now referred to as the\n      <strong>Master of Cultural Studies (MCST)<\/strong>, is one of the oldest postgraduate\n      programmes offered by the Faculty of Graduate Studies since 2004.\n    <\/p>\n    <p>\n      The programme has been successfully conducted in three batches.
